Big Time3 Enter The Dojo With Epic Radio Mix & Q&A [TMN Exclusive]

BigTime3
BigTime Radio Music Ninja Mix

It’s been a bit since we’ve shared a mix, so we nabbed an exclusive treat from the New York City trio Big Time3. To heat things up this Winter, Big Time3 cooked up a fiery – and often nostalgic – mix for your ears and body.

Complete mostly with remixes, this booming collection of energetic tracks is forty-five minutes of dance-driven fun. The trio have been making moves and are carrying out their big plans this year. From touring to releasing new music, Big Time3 have some ammo in their chambers. We caught up with the group for a quick chat to supplement the exclusive mix. Dive into both and enjoy!

TMN: What’s this year looking like for touring?

We’ve been gearing up the past few months for a spring tour to showcase our hit song “Moving On” and to share our different style of music. We are still locking up a few more dates but we have a broad spread of places on the east coast. First stop of our tour will be at Noto in Philadelphia playing with 3lau on February 23rd. In March we will be playing a few local clubs in NYC and Long Island as well as traveling to a few schools in upstate NY. April we are working on a festival which will be huge for us as we can engage with more fans and play our new music for them.

TMN: Can you tell us a bit about the mix you guys put together?

This mix is a blend of new remixes with some timeless favorites. We like to dabble back in time and evoke emotions out of people where they can hear something that will remind them of their childhood and fond memories they had listening to music then.

TMN: Are you guys looking to release any music this year?

We have been working on a few tracks that we want to release in in the Spring and Summer months. Music is an art and we like to take our time and perfect our sounds and the vocals. We have two tracks, “Dead Weight” and “DM” that we have been working on for the past few months and we plan to release them soon. “Dead Weight” features Robbie Rosen, a former American Idol which is different from the BIGTIME3 signature sound. “DM” is more of a future bass track and will be crowd pleaser.

TMN: What’s your favorite song of 2018 so far?

Drake started off 2018 with a really good album. Our favorite song is “God’s Plan” and we will be releasing a remix to it in the coming month.

Get To Know FLTHY ANMLZ Before Everyone Else Does [TMN Interview + Mix]

FLTHY ANMŁZ
FLTHY Guest Mix

Bass music is here to stay. The ever-evolving blanket genre has been expanding into new territories for as long as we can remember. There are so many talented new artists coming to the fold, but we’ve got our eyes and ears on FLTHY ANMLZ.

To help you get familiar, we brought these bass-loving boys into the dojo to answer some questions. On top of that, they’ve brought an exclusive mix to the table for everyone to enjoy. With it we get thirty minutes of jaw-dropping bass. Some of that is made up by tracks from FLTHY ANMLZ themselves. Let’s get down to business and see what FLTHY ANMLZ is all about and where they came from.

TMN: What got you each into music? How did you end up together as FLTHY ANMLZ?

FA: We’ve been really good friends since 7th grade and after High School we both really got into DJing and going to Electronic Music Shows. We were so hooked on the scene that we had to take the next step and try our hands at producing our own stuff. We both did our own thing for a little while but as time went on we discovered we had very similar tastes and started producing a lot together. Soon after we started playing together and eventually we just decided that two heads are better than one and why not produce and DJ together.

TMN: How did you come up with your name?

FA: A lot of our very first remixes, flips, etc. had samples from the original Home Alone movie. The part where Kevin uses the old movie to talk to the pizza guy. We sampled the part where it says, “keep the change ya filthy animal!” and used it numerous times in different works. We liked it so much and it fit our style so well we decided to name our project after it.. FLTHY ANMLZ was born.

TMN: If you could sum up your sound in 3 words, what would they be?

FA: Filthy Hybrid Bass

TMN: If you could collaborate with any artists, who would you pick?

There’s so many amazing artists we’d love to work with. But just to name a few: LUMBERJVCK, JPhlepz, BTSM, WOOLYMAMMOTH, Holly, G JONES, and Mr. Carmack.

TMN: Where do you see bass music headed and how do you see yourselves fitting into that progression?

FA: The cool thing about bass music sound is that its always evolving. As far as sub genre’s go, what’s big now is pretty much here to stay for a long time to come. There’s some artists out there that are really doing there own thing as far as sound design goes and we really hope to carve out our own niche in that some day.

TMN: Let’s get more technical on this next one, what’s your go to plug-in and why?

FA: Serum is the go to right now. You can create anything from scratch in there or you can go to town on an existing audio clip, preset, etc. There’s still so much to learn about it too so thats pretty awesome that theres room to improve on our use of it.

TMN: What can we expect from FLTHY ANMLZ for the rest of 2017?

FA: Hopefully we can establish releases with some really solid labels by the end of the year and keep building on the brand we’ve started. That is our major goal right now. You can definitely be expecting more music from us thats for certain. We’re also working on booking some big shows so we can rinse out some of our unreleased arsenal we’ve been sitting on.

Cry / Dance Mix_01

Kasbo is starting something that you need to pay attention to. If his own releases weren’t enough – even though they are – then you’ll be glad to know he’s got a brand new mix series he’s unraveled. “Cry / Dance” has just launched with its first volume, available for free.

Enjoy just under one hour of music from Kasbo and company. It will showcase his own music, as well as music that inspires him. To kick things off proper, Kasbo has included some unreleased goodies in the mix and this is likely not going to be restricted to this first volume. One of the said unreleased songs is his next release, so there’s that on top of everything else. Take a listen through the mix this weekend and get ready for more! This is just the beginning.

PS, if you’re in the Denver area, DO NOT miss the debut of his live show June 15th.

[House Mix] The Aston Shuffle – Only 100’s

Only 100s
2016

2016 has been quite the year for music. We’ve seen a lot of new producers capture our ears as well as continuous bangers from well known artists. So much music has surfaced that it’s almost hard to keep up with, but, The Aston Shuffle, residents of The Magician’s label, Potion, has made finding some of the best music of 2016 a little easier.

While hosting the #1 weekend show on Australia’s ubiquitous Triple J channel, The Aston Shuffle has launched their own mix series called ‘Only 100s’ to showcase their top picks each month from on-air, in clubs, and the road and they’ve hit the nail on the head. The mix features music from Weiss to Karma Kid and even the Magician himself and includes something for everyone’s tastes.

“It dawned on us recently just how much music we filter through every week for radio or our sets…it’s insane. Over time as a DJ you develop your own habits to streamline your workflow, and awhile ago we started our own shared Dropbox folder titled ‘100s’ to shortlist our best of the best, our go-to weapons to prep for our live sets. That’s when it hit us – we need to be sharing this list with the world! ‘Only 100s’ was born.” – The Aston Shuffle

The Mix is available for free download here.
