We had a very rare episode to close out 2017 featuring all my favorite tunes of the year and a special guest appearance from former co-host Ninja Dom, in town from London. I started this playlist with about 12 hours worth of music and ended up focusing on tracks from my favorite albums of the year. To round it all out, I mixed together 11 of my favorite 2017 house tracks. We have some even more comprehensive end of year lists from our staff coming to the website later this week so stay locked. Thanks to everyone and anyone who rocked with Music Ninja Radio in 2017! – Ash

With special guest Tyler Hawkins, this week’s episode of TMN Radio was a particularly fun one featuring a mix of new age soul, R&B, hip-hop and house. On the eve of his performance at our Danksgiving North Bay Fire benefit show, Tyler shared a couple unreleased tracks alongside songs that have served as inspiration. The second half hones in on some of my favorite new electronic releases from Mr. Carmack’s flawless remix of a Chromeo classic to Yaeji’s hip-house perfection. Also mixed in are a few top notch house selections from Ditongo, Lane 8 and John Monkman c/o my good friend and former co-host Dom. Saturday’s Danksgiving party raised $3400 for the RCU Community Fund!

Bugatti (Gorilla Bass Remix)

Gorilla Bass is back with another intriguing listen. Another remix, this time of “Bugatti” by Tiga gets turned out into a moombah gem. It’s like moombahcore meets tech, which makes for quite an aural experience. A fat bassline with a some solid dembow will always have people moving, but Gorilla Bass went on and managed to do more than just put those two elements together and copout for an easy song. His take on the song is creative and is much more involved than one thinks, even after having a listen. The remix has been released for free, so if you find your body moving along to the beat, go on and download it here.

Let's Go Dancing (Need & Necessity Remix)

Finding lesser known talent whom exhibit immense musical skill is part of what keeps the engine driving here at TMN, which is a sliver of the reason we have taken such a shine to house duo Need & Necessity. In keeping with the steady slate of dance tracks we’ve been bringing you ninjas this week, we’re delivering the rising production unit’s take on one of this writer’s favorite house jams of 2013, Tiga vs. Audion’s “Let’s Go Dancing”. Need & Necessity have completely reworked the drums off of the emotive original, simultaneously jacking up the hi’s exactly to our liking while shifting towards a much deeper end of the house spectrum in the process. It’s clear to see that with recent live performances supporting powerhouse acts like Cyril Hahn, Ryan Hemsworth and Duke Dumont that all of that up close experience with some of the world’s best producers is translating quite nicely into some polished production. Stream the tune above, and as a thanks to their fans hitting a recent milestone on Facebook, you can download Need & Necessity’s remix of “Let’s Go Dancing” here.
