[Amazing] Woodkid – I Love You (Pharrell Remix)

Woodkid
I Love You (Pharrell Remix)

Although it’s only been a few days since we heard Woodkid‘s own remix of “I Love You” featuring Angel Haze, we now get a chance to hear Pharrell’s take on the track. While it can be argued that any attempts at remixing the song would be hard-pressed to beat the original, it’s certainly interesting to hear Pharrell’s reinterpretation. Skateboard P strips away all the dramatic elements of the piece to produce a far more subdued, mellower vibe. The desperation is still prevalent in Lemoine’s vocals, however they don’t overpower the melody here, meaning you can get away with ignoring the lyrics as you lounge around to this one. We’d love to hear more from these two musical geniuses in the future. For those looking to grab a copy of this spectacular remix, you’ll be able to find it on Woodkid’s upcoming I Love You EP, which also includes the aforementioned Angel Haze remix and another one from Brodinski.

[Video] Tyler, The Creator – IFHY (Feat. Pharrell)

’Tyler, The Creator – IFHY ft. Pharrell’
’Tyler, The Creator – Jamba ft. Hodgy Beats’

Whenever we get new Odd Future material like this, it makes us pause and wonder what exactly goes through Tyler, The Creator‘s mind. It seems like we say this about almost every new video from the Wolf Gang leader, but this is definitely his most unique piece to date. The visuals for “IFHY” takes place in what could be described as a twisted and demented version of Barbie’s dollhouse. It’s kind of like what you’d expect from Sid from Toy Story, but without all the deformed toy parts.

During the video, we find an emotionally distraught Tyler struggling with his emotions as he chases a clearly distant girlfriend around the house. Before things can finally change for the troubled couple though, a human hand intervenes and ends things on a very sour note. It doesn’t take long for you to get over the momentary depression, as Tyler quickly shifts the mood over with the more upbeat “Jamba” featuring running mate Hodgy Beats. With these 2 releases it looks like Wolf is shaping up to be an impressive sophomore effort. But why wait to find out? You can catch the FULL STREAM of the album on SoundCloud before it hits stores on April 2nd.

[NEW] Destiny’s Child – Nuclear

In this week’s edition of the completely unexpected is the reunion of the 90s-00’s girl group Destiny’s Child. On the heels of news that the three will reunite and make a cameo during Beyonce‘s highly publicized superbowl performance, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and Beyonce drop some new material. Their Pharrell produced single “Nuclear” is the first of new works for the girl group in preparation for their compilation album Love Songs to drop later this year. The Michelle Williams, James Fauntleroy and Lonny Bereal-penned lyrics make for a catchy hook over the throwback 90’s vibe beat. Although the tune does sound a little dated, it is refreshing to hear this kind of sound that has been missing from the R&B/pop genre as well as the flawless harmonies of the three women.

[Hip-Hop] Mac Miller & Pharrell – Glow

Mac Miller hit Twitter last night to release the second single off his upcoming collaborative EP with one of the most influential and unique veteran producers, Pharrell Williams. Since his arrival on the scene several years ago, the Pittsburgh representing Miller has taken enormous strides both musically and financially, as he was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list earlier this year. At first, many loyal hip-hop fans mistakenly wrote him off as either riding on the success of Wiz Khalifa or being a corny, frathouse rapper. In the last couple years, with the success of his debut album Blue Slide Park and subsequent awesome mixtape Macadelic, he has emerged far from Wiz’s shadow and proven himself with both his real lyrical talent and admirable work ethic.

“Glow” gives a glimpse of what makes the rising Miller and established Pharrell great artists with extensive wordplay and original, bouncy production. Stream and download the track below and look out for their Pink Slime EP, out soon.
