[Chill] Earlly Mac – Naturally (Feat. JMSN) (Prod. Icepic)

Earlly Mac ft. JMSN
Naturally (prod by Icepic)

Stream the new release from proud Detroit native, Earlly Mac. The Finally Famous member delivers a stimulating tune in which he recounts a most sought-after woman from a night out. His vivid verse allow us to ‘Naturally’ paint the picture. As soon as those smooth vocals puncture your headphones you’ll be hooked; a ninja guarantees. The synth work is stellar and that drum kit really pops. Produced by Icepic, this one really has that bounce.

How does a record like this come together? “These things happen naturally.” An appearance by a Detroit neighbor, JMSN, takes the single to another level, “like an apple blossom tree.” This is a pleasant unveiling by a solid lineup of young talent. It would be great to hear more from all involved. Does anyone else feel really excited for music in 2015? This really sets the tone for what will be considered smooth in my book for the year.

[Chill] Oh Wonder – The Rain

Oh Wonder
The Rain

Oh Wonder has always kept a mysterious profile, as there’s little known about the British indie duo. What we do know, however, is that their release of a new song on the first of every month is always something to look forward to. For their first release of 2015, we have “The Rain”, a chill piece featuring a lo-fi approach and the group’s distinctive vocals. The way the they harmonize in octaves is highly addicting and the pure acoustic vibe of the tune, in some ways, resembles the sound of Daughter. As the synth comes in, the feel-good melody sounds oh so mellow. Even with its minimal vibe. you’ll be impressed by the complexity towards the end of the buildup, further cementing their original sound.

I’ve given all my love to you.
These chilling words will hit you right in the feels. Even though Oh Wonder only have five releases, they’ve quickly become a TMN favorite and accumulated well over a million spins on their SoundCloud page. Their album, an accumulation of these monthly gems, will be coming out in September 2015. Let your emotions marinade for a second and enjoy this relaxing goodness.

[Chill] Spoon – Inside Out (Tycho Remix)

Spoon
Inside Out (Tycho Remix)

Ninja regulars will already know this, but we’re huge fans of Tycho, who really caught their stride this year with the release of Awake. Today, we get an extra special remix from Scott Hansen & co. as they take on “Inside Out” by Spoon, who have had quite the comeback year themselves. Tycho utilize their signature instrumentation to create an incredible groove matching the original’s bounce and complimenting the vocals of Spoon frontman Britt Daniel to perfection. After the first couple minutes, though, the track goes near full instrumental allowing the abstract, subtle melodies to take front and center. We’re not used to hearing vocals on Tycho tracks, but are definitely not mad at how this one turned out. Hit play and get lost in this gorgeous tune above. Also, be sure to check out our interview with Tycho here.

[Chill] Atlas Bound – Talk

Atlas Bound
Talk

If you ever feel like chillaxing, grab your headphones and treat yourself to this wonderful tune. Atlas Bound, an Australian DJ/band crossover duo, just released this gem titled “Talk”. First thing that catches your attention is the Chet Faker-like vocals. The lazy yet soulful voice is mixed with a beat that is minimalist and downtempo. The faded piano keys in the background further accentuate the dreamy and jazzy approach of the song. The duo manages to create a sound so hypnotizing it’s almost therapeutic.

With the addition of Atlas Bound, Next Wave Records is set to take over the electronic music scene, showing such diversity and talent in its caliber. Definitely stay tuned for more dope music coming your way!

[Chill] Elk Road – Hurt No More

Elk Road
Hurt No More

The bar for creativity in the electronic music sphere is being raised more and more every day and Elk Road has been doing most of the lifting. Though he isn’t a household name yet, the young Aussie soundscaper is well on his way to becoming one, not only through the superb productions exemplified through his newest release “Hurt No More”, but also through his own imprint Deer Lane. When words cannot describe a song in enough detail, sometimes the second best thing to do is listen however I will try and leave you with some parting thoughts. Before you melt away in this track completely, we want you to try and think of a song you love that sounds even remotely like this. Pretty tricky right? You definitely hear GRIZ and Pretty Lights elements to it, but it’s certainly an Elk Road record. The other thing you will probably notice is that while you can definitely identify this as an Elk Road track, you can’t really put a finger on why. You’ll go through his discography and discover no two of his songs sound alike and in fact what you are identifying as his personal brand is predominantly based on a craftsmanship and dedication to originality that us Yanks simply can’t match. Any genre, any BPM, any vocals; Elk Road will do it better.

Enlisting the sultry vocals of Soraya, this one is sure to strike a chord in your heartstrings. If Ryan Hemsworth and Amy Winehouse had a child, it would be this song. Be on the look out for much more from this rising LA producer soon!

[Electronic] Anna Of The North – Sway (The Chainsmokers Remix)

Anna of the North
Sway (The Chainsmokers Remix)(Free DL)

For those of you who may have first caught wind of The Chainsmokers through “Selfie” (and who blames you), you may not know that the duo got their first following in the industry by producing remixes of some of the most eclectic group of indie artists in the market today. They were some listener’s first introductions to Say Lou Lou, ASTR, and Banks. Now that the two are on two bigger and grander things like XM Radio shows, multimillion dollar recording deals, and creators of the song that nearly broke Youtube, they decided to take a nostalgic trip back to their indie roots and try out a new remix. Luckily for us, they picked up TMN-favorite Anna Of The North and her single “Sway” and bring her into the spotlight. The Norwegian dream pop starlet gets her angelic voice reinforced by the Chainsmokers’ outstanding production which is quite honestly a match made in heaven. AOTN was our best kept secret, but it seems like she will be ruling the airwaves sooner than we previously thought thanks to this long-anticipated remix by two of the industry’s best.
