When the time for mega-producer(s) Major Lazer comes close for a new project, he usually drops some extra heat to keep his already high buzz consistent. Yesterday he took to the interwebs to grace fans for a new track “Watch out for this(Bumaye)”. Staying true to Lazer fashion, this cross between EDM and Dancehall pays off for an infectious, upbeat dance number. The dope duo brings in some collaborative help from Busy Signal, The Flexican, and FS Green to make a great listen for his upcoming LP Free the Universe and a free track if fans pre-order the album before it drops April 2nd.

[Mad Decent] Major Lazer – LAZER STRIKES BACK Vol. 1

If you were looking forward to the new Major Lazer album as much as we were, I’m sure you were disappointed to find out that it was delayed until next month. Of course that doesn’t mean we go empty handed because they have just posted the first volume of LAZER STRIKES BACK , a three part series of remixes. Jack Beats throws his signature sound over the Major Lazer – Flux Pavillion bass monster “Jah No Partial”. YellowClaw‘s “Get Free Money Remix” was in our very first Trap Dojo. The Hardstyle influenced “Original Don” gets an old school Techno feel with a huge emotional electro finale. The final song is the Major Lazer extended remix of Hot Chip‘s “Look At Where We Are”. [Remix] Bruno Mars – Locked Out of Heaven (Major Lazer Remix)

Major Lazer completely flips this Bruno Mars single on its head, infusing it with a mellower vibe to truly take you to paradise. The island theme that accompanies most Major Lazer tracks actually feels appropriate here, despite the original song’s upbeat nature. It almost feels like the remix is able to take the desperation out of Bruno’s voice, and help him relax about that whole being locked out of heaven issue he’s dealing with. You can find this one on the deluxe edition of Bruno Mars’ latest album, Unorthodox Jukebox, out now.

[Reggae/Dub] Snoop Lion – Here Comes the King feat. Angela Hunte (Prod. by Major Lazer)

If anyone doubts that Snoop Lion has what it takes anymore to make an impact in music anymore or that his name change is just a gimmick, this song is proof that the switch was his best career move in years. The Major Lazer produced beat brings it back to the origins of the modern wave of bass music, Dub Reggae, the original style of heavy bass experimentation. In his “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit this week, Snoop revealed that he smokes 80 blunts a day, every day, which certainly keeps up with Bob Marley‘s pound a week. The wonderful chorus by Angela Hunte complements Snoops verses’ lyrics which sing praise to Rastafarian King Salassie I. This single will be released December 8th and his full album, produced by Major Lazer will be available in February, along with a DVD of the same name chronicling his time in Jamaica embracing Rastafarian culture and music. If the rest of the album incorporates the spirit and sound of Reggae as much as this and the first single “La La La,” it may very well be the best Reggae album since Bob Marley was alive. The first single “La La La” is also included for your listening pleasure below.

[MP3 Playlist] The Trap Dojo 13

Another week, another Trap Dojo, filled with the very best Trap music the internet has to offer. Sorry this post isn’t on the usual Tuesday, but it has more than enough banging tunes to make up for it. The first track, a huge remix of the Flux Pavillion and Major Lazer track “Jah No Partial” goes hard, infusing the classic roots reggae vocals over all sorts of wild instrumentals, horns, whistles and drums. The Dojo just wouldn’t quite feel right if there wasn’t a track by Ookay near the top of the list and he certainly doesn’t disappoint this week, I dare you not to lose your mind when the whistles drop into the track after the hardstyle breakdown halfway through the track. I have no idea who Kennedy Jones is other than he posted this first song to his Soundcloud last and it is a track that would be sure to pack a dance floor. It seems that we cant go a single week without throwing in a remix of “Clique,” and this week Bird Peterson does the honors. Butch Clancy, or should I say “BU†CH CLΔNCΨ” takes a break from making killer dubstep to make this hard hitting trap mash-up. This isn’t available for free download, but will be as soon as Clancy gets all the kinks worked out. I have loved every single OG mix that Candyland has released, and this mix of J-Kwon‘s “Tipsy” proves that they are one of the best at updating familiar but tired tracks into hyped up bangers. The next several songs all go hard with huge instrumentals and fire-spitting lyrics. The last few songs are a little bit different, M!NT creates a beautiful Lovetrap sound with hip-hop vocals throughout while Kastle is pure Lovetrap, with amazing layered vocals sure to get your head nodding while your heart’s breaking. Lastly, we have something the likes of which I’m sure you’ve never heard before, as 710 Records boss ṪHE ƦξVЁR∑NƉ BLEEⱣ BLOO₱ traps out the Etta James classic “At Last”. Be sure to listen to all of these songs on the best system or headphones you have to catch all the sub-bass and subtle features which make these songs truly magnificent.
