[Chill] Coldplay – Midnight (Carneyval Remix)

Coldplay
Midnight (Carneyval Remix)

Whether you like their music or not, there is no denying that Coldplay has one of the most dynamic sounds in the mainstream music arena today. No two songs are alike and Chris Martin is like the male Ellie Goulding. Therefore, it’s easy to see why every one is eager is to not only seek musical influence from the juggernauts but also feed off their creativity with their own pieces. Take Carneyval’s remix of “Midnight” for example. By reading the title, you may think the budding New Orleans soundscaper simply reworked a melody or two and called it his own and that is where you are wrong. Carneyval, quite a musician himself, wrote and performed the melodies you hear above on his own piano as well as every other component of the track as well. Yes, that is original saxophone we are hearing as well. The only Coldplay in this song is Martin’s vocals, a true remix.

[Chill] Loston – Drown

Drown

Loston is the best producer you’ve never heard of. With the Australian electronic music scene bursting at the seams, it is all too easy for some to slip through the cracks, but hopefully the young beatmaker won’t go unnoticed much longer after this. “Drown” is an absolutely gorgeous composition from start to finish, there is no contesting that at all. As the “Death Coast” artist continues to charter his own path in original productions, look for more gems like this to come in the future. If you for some reason aren’t really clicking with this one, his remixes are next level and can help ease you into the Loston hypetrain.

[Chill/Pop-House] Birdy – Skinny Love (Sebastian Carter Remix)

Birdy
Skinny Love (Sebastian Carter Remix)

At just 20 years of age, Sebastian Carter has shown us time and time again that musical  maturity should be merited on sound regardless of age or experience. The Swiss electronic producer’s music tends to carry an emotive weight and groove which would sail directly over some of his contemporary listeners’ collective heads; casting a stunning amount of crossover promise on the young artist’s career in the process. Already with stirring retouches of The 1975, Bad Suns, and Alt J along with a few addictive originals; today Carter’s taken Birdy’s cover of the Bon Iver staple “Skinny Love” and spun a tranquil web of house all over its pop leaning framework. With rising pads serving as a slow-burning build and simultaneous mood setting device, his airy synths are free to bubble their way to the surface while Birdy’s ethereal vocal stylings submerged in hazy reverb play as beautiful as ever amongst the wunderkind’s polished instrumentation. Sebastian Carter has certainly hit the mark again with this one, and we hope you’ll drift away with us for the four minute, alluring sonic expedition.

[Chill/Disco] Goldroom – Till Sunrise ft. Mammals

Goldroom
Till Sunrise

The way So-Cal dance-producer-turned-live act Goldroom approached the release of “Till Sunrise” was nothing short of inspiring. By now within most relevant electronic communities, Goldroom has become somewhat of a household name; and with every passing release, it would be quite simple to pick a handful of big name artists to author remixes and pocket a nice penny or two. But, rather than that extremely tired formula, the entire stem package was given away for free weeks ago, allowing any artist with a pirated copy of Ableton to try their hands at an official remix before anyone had even had a chance to hear it. We’ve heard great revisions already from names like MyKill and Justin Faust, which truly only stoked our proverbial fire before its concrete release today. But alas, it is Goldroom’s original tune which of course surpasses anything else done with the song. A wave of soft synth and airy pads give life to the track’s two-steppy stride of a melody before  Mammals’ breathy vocal incantations take their seat as our focal point. Goldroom’s slowed down brand of dance plays as luminous as ever, immediately taking our subconscious to late night rooftop parties and beach side soirees with our best friends; which is something we’ve almost come to expect from the multi-faceted dance creator. This one is about to go viral, so be a few steps ahead and stream “Till Sunrise”, which is out now on Binary, above. Trust us, it’s the most perfect Monday tune you’ll have listened to in months.

The Weeknd
Often (Free n Losh Remix)

Rolling off of the wave of success experienced on their first original release, “Lost”, Free n Losh have returned to remix “Often” from one of R&B’s most intriguing artists, and a favorite of quite a few Ninjas here; The Weeknd. Perhaps some of the most versatile electronic producers at the moment with credits on Mac Miller tunes, an official Pretty Lights remix and multiple trips to the almighty Hype Machine Top Ten charts through gleaming and cutting edge takes on dance genres; Free n Losh have peeled back yet another layer of their collective production psyche with this latest remix. The Canadian duo blends a distinct steel drum over a luscious two-step melody and  and layer it all seductively amongst a sea of contorted snare kicks and hi-claps for a sound completely their own. With every passing release Free n Losh continually impress the hell out of our ears, and this cut might be one of our favorite from their entire catalogue. Grab the free download here, and slip into something sexy for this one, it might get a little hot.

We Move Like The Ocean (Sebastian Carter Remix)

It’s so wonderful when two of our favorite acts from opposite ends of the musical spectrum come crashing together. So when 20 year old TMN favorite Sebastian Carter was tabbed to remix Bad Suns‘ latest single “We Move Like The Ocean”, it seemed like it was crafted specifically for us. Carter, who last graced our hallowed pages with a remix of The 1975’s “You“, tools with a simple but gorgeous piano chord progression that paints a buoyant feel on top of Bad Suns’ original track, and work even more gracefully with lead vocalist Christo Bowman’s authoritative incantations. Sebastian Carter has quickly become one of our favorite young dance producers, and we haven’t once been let down by his sultry brand of chilled-out house. Once again, this one is being gifted to us as a free download, so grab it here, slink back in your office chair or your couch at home and have a listen above.
