[Deep House] EDX – Remember House (Radio Edit)

EDX
Remember House (Radio Edit)

Do you “Remember House?” Because EDX sure does. Fresh off the release of a remix of “Uruguay” by fellow Helvetic Nerds members Nora en Pure and Sons of Maria, that has dominated the Beatport Deep House charts, the trusted Swiss-based producer has delivered the perfect track to bust us out of our Monday blues.

Released today on Enormous Tunes, “Remember House” is another departure from EDX’s prototypical progressive house stylings that we’ve become accustomed to, but that doesn’t mean the track isn’t just as good as his oldies, if not better. Intricately layering a deep, punchy bass line with crafty percussive patterns and a memorable vocal loop, EDX injects a naturally energetic personality into the track, making it the perfect club construction.

The track is available for purchase on Beatport here, and look out for more exciting things to come out of this dance music veteran in 2015 by following him on Soundcloud.

[G House] Disciples – They Don’t Know (Sirus Hood Remix)

Disciples
They Don't Know (Sirus Hood Remix)

Coming off of Pete Tong’s esteemed FFRR label, Disciples have thrived in the UK underground scene with their unique style of dark deep house with a touch of pop sensibilities. Their single, “They Don’t Know,” is highlighted by its big bass lines and infectiously catchy hi-hats that incite listeners to dig into a deep groove.

As a part of the remix pack, this London-based trio have landed the likes of Justin Jay, Alexis Raphael, and mysterious French producer, Sirus Hood, to deliver their own renditions the track.

Dropping a few days ago, “They Don’t Know” came out with a fresh new look and feel via Sirus Hood. This new rendition boasts cleverly chopped up vocals and a big, bass-heavy drum patterns, all of which come together flawlessly. Elements of deep house and the 80s hip-hop movement deliver the end result, which is something reminiscent of g-house flag bearers Amine Edge & Dance.

Remember House (TEASER)

Maurizio Colella, aka EDX, has been a machine the past year in developing his thriving career. Between forward thinking originals, exquisite remixes, his weekly No Xcuses podcast, and his recent ‘Progression of Sound’ US Tour, we have begun to think that Colella has a super power that does not require sleep. To keep fans on their toes once again, EDX previews his newest original, “Remember House,” that is out via Enourmous Records on March 2nd to kick start the festival season.

EDX has created a niche in the dance soundscape with his trademark blend of progressive and deep house that fans immediately feel in love with. After a first listen of “Remember House,” it seems that EDX may be taking a slight departure from his signature sound. EDX layers a throbbing bassline with vintage vocals and entrancing pad work to deliver a club banger that still resembles his beloved progressive style. Although EDX throws us a curve ball with “Remember House,” we will be excited to see what other tricks he has up his sleeve for 2015.

Be sure to check out EDX‘s last remix of Nora En Pure and Sons of Maria’s “Uruguay” that has been #2 on Beatport Deep House Charts and #12 on the Overall Charts. Grab your copy here.

[Future/House] Zeds Dead & Oliver Heldens – You Know

Zeds Dead & Oliver Heldens
You Know (Original Mix)

At its base, future house evolved as a genre when it drew from the elements of established genres like funk, deep house, tech-house, disco, and many more. Oliver Heldens saw the lack of groove in big room music when developing his trademark style and saw a possibility for it to be combined with house to be suitable for the main stage. Zeds Dead, on the other hand, have played a monumental role in the development of harder dance music styles and have released tracks of too many genres to count. When we heard they collaborated on a track, we immediately speculated as to what it could sound like.

The musical baby of Zeds Dead and Oliver Heldens, “You Know,” rides the coat tails of the future house movement but exudes a special charm. The Dutch young gun and Canadian producers keep listeners on the their toes as they guide a future funky house train that contains various components of drum n bass, cheery synth dabbles, and scraping bass snarls. Overall, “You Know” presents a combination of the best of both artists and sets both Oliver Heldens and Zeds Dead for massive 2015.

[G-House] Malik Mustache & Bashh – Slow Boom

Malik Mustache & Bashh
Slow Boom (Original Mix)[Xmas Gift] [FREE DOWNLOAD]

So rarely do we get the chance to feature tracks from some of our favorite underground dance labels, simply as many imprints who conduct a majority of their business via exclusive Beatport distribution deals only put out about a 2-3 minute preview clip through Soundcloud as opposed to a complete stream; thus necessitating a need for DJ’s or hardcore fans to purchase music through said online retailers. So basically, (after the brief independent music survey) every time a smaller collective with whom we’ve had our eyes on (or ears in this case) releases a free tune, it comes across as this writer’s duty as TMN’s resident voice of niche house genres to share with our inquisitive readership. Today’s foray into the more future echoes of house comes from the Brazilian artist duo of Lekko Antoine & Marcio Neto, or Malik Mustache as they’re more readily recognized in the confines of dance music. Emanating from the unexpected underground hotbed of São Paulo along with the likes of Vintage Culture and more rising artists, Malik Mustache’s latest collaboration with Bashh features an utterly tasteful bouncy analog bassline from which much of G-House builds its vivacious foundations on, as well as a pitched down cypher which waltzes in on top of an acicular synth progression. As the late Mac Dre would say, this one’s had us “feelin ourselves” all afternoon. Snag a free digital download here, which is part of an entirely free LP, Xmas Gift, from G-Mafia Records and stream “Slow Boom” above.

[Deep/Tech-House] option4 – You’re ILL

option4
You're ILL

Denver based dance architect option4 has been on what we like to call around the music industry a “tear” as of late; with releases on iconic labels like Australian based Sweat it Out!, Diplo’s Mad Decent and an EP on one of house music’s most revered imprints, NYC’s Nurvous Records all within the last 12 months. So when we heard he was touching back down on the digital label he founded (and one we’ve been keeping up on), Night Supply, to release this latest slice of hooky underground house, “You’re ILL”, well we were just smitten. Featuring one of the best plucked samples we’ve had the pleasure of consuming this year, “You’re ILL”  riffs The Pack’s breakout hit “Vans” like many others have tried, but prevails mightily over them all.  That aurally addictive vocal of “Got My Vans On..” rides front and center over a versant melody most of the Dirtybird crew would covet, instilling equal parts classic jack and hip-hop infused soul. It really has been a pleasure witnessing option4’s star shine brighter with every passing release as we’ve been covering his ethos branded take of “More House than Tech, More Deep than Disco” since its inception. Stream option4’s “You’re ILL” above, and let’s bring it back to the club just like he did.

[Deep House] Nick Jonas – Jealous (Ugo Remix)

Having only dropped his sensual and funky track “Jealous,” which is rapidly gaining momentum, this past September, Nick Jonas’ solo career seems to be off to a pretty nice start. Seeing as he’s signed to Universal Music Group’s Island Records, we are all very excited to see what he has in store for us with his forthcoming album. While we anticipate its release, we have been fortunate to receive some pretty outstanding remixes of what is to be included on the album. Thus far, one of our favorites is Ugo’s rendition of “Jealous.” He takes on a much darker perspective, cranking up the sex-factor with hypnotic percussion and going heavy on the harmony. To put it simply, Ugo transforms the catchy tune into a night club anthem guaranteed to turn a venue into a sauna.
