With rain coming down in SF, this week’s episode came together just at the right time. After a multiple year hiatus, The Music Ninja’s weekly Sunday Night Soul returned last weekend. To celebrate, I had Ninja Baseer put together the first couple segments with a mix of soulful, forward-leaning R&B tunes. After touching on the dissociative pysch rock of Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s latest album, the remainder of the show was dedicated to hazy, lo-fi house. Anchored by a selection Ross From Friends stellar Brainfeeder debut, the last hour hits right in the late night feels.

It’s not often you get a chance to see exactly how a song from a Grammy nominated album was put together. However, now we’re getting a chance to thanks to Noiselab who’s new course with STINT will show you how the illustrious “Weight in Gold” single from Gallant was made.

Hot off his last release with “Open Up” and his cover of the Foo Fighters “Learn To Fly”, he’s now delivering one the singles off his album titled “Weight In Gold”, and it’s nothing short of amazing. It just premiered on Apple Music by Zane Lowe, but you can also stream it in full here. Featuring a vocal range that can make the best look like child’s play, supported by some flawless song writing, this track is ready for the radio and sure to be a canvas for thousands of artist to remix.
