[Multi-Genre] MitiS – Foundations EP

Back in January we had the opportunity for an exclusive regarding a special project that MitiS had coming. He then shared with us the intro track to his now released Foundations EP, a five track project that has been released for free through Born Records.

MitiS delves back into the melodic styles that brought him acclaim. The classically trained musician kicks off the project with an ethereal composition that sets the mood of the rest of the EP. From there we move to two dubstep tracks that really bring that classic MitiS sound to life. “Before The Season Ends” has the producer bringing some house vibes, then MitiS further diversifies with the glitchy “Breathe.” “Forever” closes out the EP with an uplifting house sound that is perfect for Spring time parties. Check out the full EP below, and don’t forget to download it for free!

[Event Review] TMN’s 5 Favorite Acts from CRSSD Fest 2016

CRSSD2016_1

(All Photos by Summer Luu via ListenSD)

Following an epic weekend, CRSSD Fest might’ve just become our new favorite music event in California. Presented by FNGRS CRSSD, the two-day festival is everything we’d wish for and more. Even though it mildly sprinkled on Saturday night due to the El Nino weather, it’s safe to say this is the best CRSSD thus far. The Waterfront Park in San Diego was the perfect venue for a festival that features artists that preach good vibes and company. The palm trees on the side of the main stage stick out in an occasionally clear sky, and the rain might’ve just loosened us up a little bit more – the music made it that much better.

To sum up our experience at CRSSD, we’ve handpicked five of our favorite acts that we think best highlight the festival. Check out our list below after the jump (in no particular order).

[House] Young Franco – Drop Your Love (ft. DiRTY RADiO)

Did we see this collaboration coming? No. Are we insanely glad it happened? You know it. DiRTY RADiO, notorious for incredible vocal renditions of rising producers, teamed up with Young Franco for an absolute scorcher of a pop-tinged house tune. Every single part of this song is pristine, from the stripped down (compared to Young Franco’s solo releases) production peppered with shifty synths and thumping drums to the impeccable harmonization and vocal prowess layered snugly within the track.

Infectious doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface on describing “Drop Your Love,” as it pulls together the best traits of both artists into a tune that can, and should, fit into almost any and every playlist out there. As we are well aware, Australia continues to provide us with some of the best electronic music out at the moment, and Young Franco does it big yet again by enlisting DiRTY RADiO. Get grooving!

[Indie Electronic] Edward Vanzet – Everyday

Edward Vanzet
Everyday

Starting off the week slow can be a necessary plan of action in some regards, and Edward Vanzet recently provided us with a subdued and tranquil tune to do exactly that. “Everyday” is the title track off of his EP that is due out on Friday of this week, and it traverses the familiar, warm soundscapes of electronica and synthwave as fluttering vocals pan and stutter across the hazy atmosphere dotted with a soothing lead and minimal percussion.

There’s something inherently sublime about all five and a half minutes of “Everyday.” It’s an intangible center of calm that can almost instantly melt away stress. This is sunset music. This is lazy summer music. This is good, good stuff. Keep your ears open for the rest of the Everyday EP getting released on March 18th, and find some bliss today with this outstanding single.

[Electronic] Coleman Hell – 2 Heads (Vanic Remix)

Coleman Hell
2 Heads (Vanic Remix)

Vanic essentially has reached the status of a household name because of his vibrant renditions of great artists like Tove Styrke, Zella Day, and plenty others. His continued mastery of reshaping pop and alternative into a palatable and relentlessly upbeat formula is one to be enjoyed on the best of days and at the best of times.

The sound he’s created translates well to a festival atmosphere, as each new creation calls equally on energy and emotion while being wrapped up cleanly into an attractive package. There’s no shortage of melodic elements here, and Vanic has prided himself on keeping things bright and enjoyable ever since he started. This take on Coleman Hell upholds his precedent with ease, and we are lucky enough to get to ring in Daylight Savings and longer days with a hefty dose of melodic power courtesy of Vanic.

Grandtheft – Summer In The Winter (Champagne Drip Remix) [feat. Fantastic Modern] [TMN PREMIERE]

Grandtheft
Summer In The Winter (Champagne Drip Remix)[feat. Fantastic Modern]

Mad Decent always knows how to put together a stellar remix EP, and their latest collection of talent stems from Grandtheft and his Quit This City project. The last time we heard from Champagne Drip, we had the chance to discuss cereal and other ridiculous things, so needless to say, we’re excited for the chance to premiere his newest release and massive contribution to this EP.

The remix starts off in typical Champagne Drip fashion, bobbing and weaving with a woozy groove that feels like you’re exploring a neon coral reef until it ratchets up the intensity as Mad Decent releases are ought to do. Pulling together elements of indie electronic, future, and even a slight bit of synthwave, this remix chalks up another win for the always interesting Champagne Drip, who’s signature mix of the aforementioned influences is washed with a sense of wonder throughout. Don’t miss out the free download!

When We Were Young

Remember summer? We sure do. Back when vacation was more of a reality for a lot of us, it was the best as a kid. Sometimes you just can’t help but revel in nostalgia, and Benjamin Dunn, more commonly referred to as The Wild Wild, knows exactly how to make it sound wonderful. “When We Were Young” gives a glossy and upbeat take on the simpler times of the past with a refined indie pop approach that’s sure to jog your memory and put a big grin on your face.

With Daylight Savings time kicking in, we will FINALLY be getting more sunlight again, and what better way to kick off the longer days than with the latest from The Wild Wild. Good luck getting it out of your head after the first listen, because its catchiness is no joke. Don’t worry, you’ll be better off because of it. Enjoy!
