[Chill] Odesza – White Lies (Forrest Bumps Remix)

Odesza
White Lies (Forrest Bumps Remix)

Since its release last year, Odesza‘s debut album has spread like wildfire receiving glowing support from the dance community. With its glimmering, unique aesthetic, In Return has also become one of the most remixed projects in recent history, further catalyzed by several remix contests run by the production duo themselves. The countless quality re-works that have been put out has made it hard, even for us ninjas, to keep up, but we stumbled across one of “White Lies” this week that we had to share.

LA-based producer Forrest Bumps, of the A Fish Tank collective, replaces the percussion with a steadily building house beat all the while chopping and re-arranging the vocals making for an intoxicating listen. It’s a re-imagination that, rather than completely change the vibe, retains the original’s grace while switching up the cadence in a refreshing way. Give this one a listen above and, if you’re digging it, give it a vote on Odesza’s “White Lies” remix contest.

Young Summer – Blood Love (Big Wild Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Young Summer
Blood Love (Big Wild Remix)

Big Wild has been building a dedicated following on SoundCloud since the 2013 release of his impressive debut EP, Native Echos. Last year proved a huge one for the LA-based producer, as he continued cranking out a diverse collection of sounds that mix an organic, almost tribal, sensibility towards bass and percussion with lush elements of EDM. It’s little surprise that his forward-thinking style garnered the attention of like-minded ninja favorites, Odesza, who invited him to join the North American leg of their massively successful 2014 No.Sleep tour.

Today, Odesza officially announced the launch of the Foreign Family Collective, a platform the duo will use to highlight their favorite up ‘n coming artists, through which Big Wild will be releasing his next single. With a number of major performances under his belt and support from some of electronic music’s most respected names, the rising producer has positioned himself for a huge 2015 and we’re excited to be bringing you the premiere of his latest remix.

Taking on Young Summer‘s “Blood Love,” Big Wild showcases his versatility utilizing the original’s hauntingly beautiful vocals and a minimal backdrop to lure the listener in before dropping into an absolute explosion of a chorus. There’s a certain emotional accessibility in Big Wild’s music that’s truly amplified on this addicting cut. Give it a spin above and see for yourself. Big Wild will be at SXSW and also embarking on a US tour with Kodak to Graph and OBESØN–check his upcoming tour dates here.

[Disco/Indie-Dance] Odesza – All We Need (Haywyre Remix)

Odesza
All We Need (Haywyre Remix)

I swear, Haywyre can do no wrong. Whether it’s originals or remixes, like his latest one of Odesza, he manages to create works that stand out to an extraordinary degree. He’s been playing this flip of “All We Need” in his sets, and I can only imagine how the crowds have reacted to it. This genre melting pot he cooked up is already blowing up for good reason. With such a funky, future indie sound, this is a hallmark remix that stays incredibly entertaining from beginning to end. We can only hope for a live video of him playing this, like he has done for some of his works in the past. Even if not, the song is excellent enough to satisfy our Haywyre needs. Martin has released this remix for free, so go on and grab it above!

All We Need (Louis Futon Remix) Feat. Shy Girls

Fresh off of a new EP, Louis Futon has decided to hit us with yet another outstanding remix. As the number of Odesza remixes continues to multiply, some can get lost in the madness, but Louis Futon takes a slight deviation from your typical renditions with an almost R&B edge. Retaining the sultry Shy Girls vocals, this tune bounces along nicely with purpose and a presence that sits comfortably amongst prior releases in Louis Futon’s collection. Odesza could easily play the entirety of their festival circuit with the remixes that have been put out of them (just on ‘Say My Name’ alone), but this version of ‘All We Need’ is sure to finds its way into their sets and plenty of other artists’ as well. It’s a just a fun tune overall that’s equal parts sensual and upbeat. Yet again, we’re lucky as fans because it’s up for a free download, so don’t hesitate to grab it HERE.

Waited 4 U (ODESZA Remix) [Thissongissick.com Premiere] [Free Download]

ODESZA and Slow Magic are both killing it in 2014 with stellar debut albums and endless sold-out shows. The similarities don’t end with their upward career trajectory, though, as they also share in sonic elements with shimmering electronic sounds and booming percussion. We’ve already seen Slow Magic, the mysterious masked producer, remix ODESZA’s “Say My Name” and, now, the favor is returned with ODESZA’s take on “Waited 4 U.” As with all of their re-works, the Seattle production duo make this one their own bringing in their signature bright, big-room sound. The compatible styles allow Slow Magic’s original to shine through as well, though, and leaves us wanting more collaborations.

Both of these ninja-favorites are on tour in Europe right now and are actually in the midst of joint shows–you can check out their tour dates here: ODESZA||Slow Magic. [Electronica] Odesza – Say My Name (Jai Wolf Remix)

Odesza
Say My Name feat. Zyra (Jai Wolf Remix)[Counter Records]

Hopefully you haven’t grown tired of hearing the million Odesza‘s “Say My Name” remixes out there, but this one is right up there with the best ones. New York-based producer Jai Wolf recently released his take on the popular tune, and let’s just say it’s oh so juicy!

Ranges from melodic dubstep to chill trap, Jai Wolf cleans it up with a slower trap beat, while staying true to the original track by keeping its melody and Zyra’s vocals. It starts off with this deep bass which sets the stage for this banger remix, and when the drop comes, these unique oriental sounding synths take the spotlight. It’s one of those tunes that are so catchy that you can’t get enough of.

Make sure to catch him at his first headlining show for “I’m Shmacked NYC” tomorrow at Stage 48! With so many tricks up his sleeve, Jai Wolf is definitely one of the more exciting artists to watch.

Say My Name (Slow Magic Remix)

Odesza‘s “Say My Name” has officially become one of the most remixed tunes ever since it came out alongside their In Return album. Everybody wants a piece of this delicious cake but not everyone gets a hold of its essence. Slow Magic‘s take on the song is probably, in our opinion, one of the best versions out there.

Featuring his very own father on the guitar solo, Slow Magic manages to put in his own twist to the already amazing collaboration. It starts off with his sweet signature piano chords, with the original chorus fading in the background. When the beat drops, it’s everything Slow Magic represents. The epic synths, the hardhitting drums and the killer guitar solo steal the spotlight for this remix while crediting the original tune. So much is put into the production of this rework that we can’t help but admire these talented musicians whose styles compliment each other so well. So go check it out above, give the other remixes from their ongoing competition a listen here, and tell us what you think!
