YDEA – Let’s Get Lost [TMN Premiere]

YDEA
Let's Get Lost

The Danish songster YDEA is gracing the dojo with the premiere of her new single “Let’s Get Lost” today. From her home in London she’s creating some astonishing indie records and this certainly falls into that lot.

“Let’s Get Lost” is a soft and soothing soulful dive into a powerful message from YDEA. This inspirational tune is inspired by the immigration to Europe by refugees. Even if you’re not someone who’s socio-politically savvy, this incredible song still packs an emotional punch. YDEA will have you tearing up with her masterful performance laden atop a backdrop of gripping acoustical accompaniment.

“I wrote Let’s Get Lost as I was frustrated about how some reacted to the refugees coming to Europe the past years. I was disheartened and ashamed to see that instead of welcoming them with empathy and kindness for all that they’ve been through there was this negative movement of dehumanising them, using negatively loaded words and not recognising them as being human beings coming from a devastating situation that I never could never even imagine. I have always been a strong believer that no matter where we are from, no matter religion, sexuality or colour we are all human with hopes and dreams and no one should be treated differently for any reason. I hope through this song to inspire to more kindness and compassion as I believe that’s the way for humanity.

Platonick Dive – Maple [TMN Video Premiere]

To kick off Tuesday we’re going retro with a new project from the Italian group Platonick Dive. They have graced the dojo with the premiere of the music video for the single “Maple” from their upcoming LP Social Habits that comes out on April 20th.

“Maple” as a track is a cerebral dive into mesmerizing soundscapes and lush textures. Platonick Dive really keyed in on a classic, yet new-school sound. With the video they continued with the nostalgic tone, utilizing noisily filtered images that make you feel like you are watching a dark, cryptic VHS. The whole project is incredible and we’re happy to be the first to present it to you. Lastly, you can pre-order Social Habits today from iTunes!

Nine Inch Nails – Closer (Nick Evol Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Nine Inch Nails
Closer (Nick Evol Remix)

With festival season upon us, producers are bringing out the big remixes/edits. Most are aiming at current pop or R&B hits, but Nick Evol took a different approach with his remix. He brought back a classic from Nine Inch Nails and transformed it into an industrial electro delicacy.

The dark sound of the re-imagined “Closer” must have been inspired by the likes of Rezz, but Nick’s own sound is unique from his influences. He takes them a step further and in a different direction, capitalizing on his singularity instead of simply treating this as a knock-off remix. This is just the flip out of left field that we’ve been looking for and doing justice to NIN is not an easy thing, but Nick pulled this one off nicely. We’re happy to premiere it to you today, along with the opportunity for you to download it for free!

Sacred Sciences & English Lit – Gym Class Hero (feat. Control) [TMN Premiere]

Firepower Records has been unleashing the 8th volume of their Flatline compilation series bit by bit and today we’re offering up a first listen to one of the tracks. “Gym Class Hero” by Sacred Sciences, English Lit and Control is, as you’d imagine from this group of artists and label, an enormously heavy tune.

These three acts joined up to supplement each others attributes for a dirty dubstep original that implements hip-hop to further sweeten the pot. The rough-toned rapping fits perfectly with the gritty low frequencies that “Gym Class Hero” boasts. The full compilation release will be happening on March 30th, so you can pre-order the LP or buy the track once Friday comes along. For now enjoy your exclusive first listen!

Proper Villains – Twenty-Four Seven / Kutumaini [TMN Premiere]

Seeing talented producers go on hiatus isn’t something we look forward to as music listeners, but it’s a reality. The good thing is that a hiatus doesn’t have to be forever. Proper Villains went into the shadows for a bit, but now is back premiering his two new songs on Psycho Disco! here in the dojo.

The New York producer is hitting us with a one-two punch of club-driven house records. The first, “Twenty-Four Seven” is a smash that will keep you going all night long with its vivacious grooves and deep, bustling drums. The b-side “Kutumaini” shares a more upbeat, tribal sound that invigorates with its hypnotizing tones. Together these tracks are a major welcome back from one hell of a producer that we’re looking forward to hearing more from this year. He’s not going missing again, so stay tuned.
