Monstercat – Contact [Music Ninja Picks]

One beautiful evening in the Dojo, five of us ninjas received an unexpected package that was said to be from Canada. Because not all ninjas were present – some were out looking for musical allies, and others taking care of business – we were hesitant to open it. Then we realized, it could only be one thing…

Contact from Monstercat is what we found. The package may have been from Canada, but the musical contents come from all over the world. Instantly, the present ninjas popped in the album and had a listen through. After, we chose our favorites to share with you today, along with a few honorable mentions. Contact is up for grabs on iTunes for those who like what they hear.

[Electro/Trap] Aero Chord – SAIKO

Aero Chord
SAIKO

“SAIKO” has the bass producer Aero Chord stepping into a new role, even if by the end of it he dips back into his trap roots. His alliance with Monstercat continues to grow with yet another huge record.

The introduction sets a dark scene up for a psychotically chopped sequence of vocals that lead up to a threatening climax. Aero Chord proceeds to murder with a wicked drop into a slobbery bassline. With the piercing synth stabs and the modulated screams, it makes for one impressive experience. He then breaks things down and dirty by cutting the beat’s time, resulting in a vicious trap section that must simply be heard. Support “SAIKO” by getting a copy from iTunes today.

Build The Cities (feat. Kerli) (Grabbitz Remix)

Grabbitz wasn’t done with just his Friends EP, which dropped just at the end of last month. He’s already back with another song in the form of a remix for the esoteric act Karma Fields. Oh yeah, and Deadmau5 just uploaded a teaser of his collaboration with Grabbitz onto his Soundcloud. Nick has got some things going on, as you can see. As you will hear, his remix of “Build The Cities” is a dazzling display of the producer’s all-star abilities at making timeless music. Grabbitz joins a crew of remixers on the Reconstructions EP, which is still, well… under construction. Get the this remix on Bandcamp, and make sure to check out the other ones that have already been made public. Stay tuned for the rest!

[Progressive Trance] Trivecta – Evaporate (feat. Aloma Steele)

Trivecta
Evaporate (feat. Aloma Steele)

For lovers of dance music who just became hip to the scene in the past couple of years, there are decades of DJs, producers, and trends that they’re probably completely unaware of. For this blogger in particular, having been to his first club in 2000, trance always has a special place the continued infatuation with electronic dance music.

Trivecta and Aloma Steele are not a new duo to come together for a collaborative effort. This duo has a slew of songs together and have recently added another one to their growing list with “Evaporate.” This one is a serious dose of emotive, progressive-inspired vibes that go against the grain of his normal melodic dubstep tendencies.

A true musical expedition, “Evaporate” fuses entrancing melodies, steamy vocals by Steele, and flaring elements that come in towards the backend when the crescendo nature of the song is in full force. Sit back, take a seat, and allow Trivecta to guide you through an extraordinary progressive-trance adventure.
“Evaporate” is available on iTunes via Monstercat.

[Breakbeat] Noisestorm – Barracuda

Noisestorm
Barracuda

The best kind of storm is Noisestorm. “Barracuda” is the latest manifestation from the musical mind of the Irish beatsmith who partnered again with his Monstercat family for the release. His breakbeat electro style is one that is underdeveloped outside of Noisestorm and a handful of others, although his work stands out among them all. With Summer approaching, rage fever is soon to strike, and this track certainly won’t be inhibiting the onset. “Barracuda” is the beast you expect, plus more. The only unfortunate thing about this is that Noisestorm doesn’t have any upcoming shows, so this is gonna have to be played elsewhere. Get yourself a copy and share it around in his stead!

[Future] San Holo – Victory

San Holo
Victory

San Holo is the kind of artist whose forward thinking productions inspire others to get into the field of music, or to take their creative abilities a little bit more seriously. Monstercat is a magical fit for the Netherlands producer, who will be releasing a three track EP called Victory on the Canadian label.

To quench some of our thirst, San Holo has released the title single to the world prior to the EP’s release date of May 25th. “Victory” is a track that will make you feel like you are in future heaven. Strong melodies and engaging sounds make up this original that shifts its sound a bit as it ages through the four minutes. The pre-order is currently available for the entire Victory EP, however, just as this single came early, you can have it for yourself right now if you place an order on iTunes.

[Multi-Genre] Grabbitz – Friends EP

Grabbitz is one of those producers whose talent shines in every single creation they make. Some may recognize him from the recent coverage regarding Deadmau5 reaching out to him on Twitter. We know him from his remixes of “Get Low” and “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You,” along with other originals. Speaking of originals, Grabbitz dropped an all original EP called Friends on Monstercat.

Seven songs including introduction, transition, and closing episodes of experimental nature make up this EP. In going back and forth between flexing his bass music guns and his more film-score like talents he manages to create a project that is more than just some cool tracks he’s been working on. He’s built a complex experience by weaving dub tracks like “Here With You Now” and “Turn Around” with works like the trapped out collaboration with Faustix and “A Walk To The Gallows,” a mystical conclusion to an outstanding EP. Friends is the EP project that Grabbitz fans have been waiting for, and his next move is going to be to top this. There’s no doubt in the ninjas mind’s he will!
