[Bass] Dirt Monkey – ‘MYCELIUM SOUND PT. 1’

2023 has been an electrifying year for bass music, and Dirt Monkey fits right in with the latest album, “MYCELIUM SOUND PT. 1.” Dropped on October 18, it’s the kind of music that makes you wish you had a bigger pair of headphones, to say the least

Now, we’ve seen Patrick Megeath, aka Dirt Monkey, dive into a ton of genres over the years, but this album is something special. The lead single, “Ignite,” featuring Christian Acamo, sets the tone. It’s like a gateway, beckoning listeners into Dirt Monkey’s world where wobbly basslines meet fresh rhythms.

Collaborations bring in even more flavor. Shanna Raymond and J Nolan sprinkle their magic, ensuring that the album isn’t just about the sound itself, but also about voices that give life to the music. And let’s not forget those festival anthems that are baked in as well.

However, it’s not just about the collaborators or the festivals. It’s about the journey through the tracks, the ups and downs, the chill moments, and the ‘time to rage’ points as well. It’s this rollercoaster of sounds and emotions that sets “MYCELIUM SOUND PT. 1” apart.

As October 25 approaches, there’s already buzz about MYCELIUM SOUND PT. 2. But before diving into what’s next, do yourself a favor: plug in, turn up the volume, and let Dirt Monkey’s latest sonic trip take you places. It’s a journey worth taking.

[Trap] The 95ers – Work Hard Play Harder EP

If you’re looking to get your hands on something fresh right out of the oven, then you’ve come to the right place. A brand new project has come about called The 95ers. When Dirty Monkey isn’t cooking up his usual dose of dubstep (and other various genres) and Amp Live isn’t paving his own lane, these two dynamic creators are taking care of this brainchild – which also means Dirt Monkey must live in his studio, because he also has another side project with Jantsen called Soltri.

The 95ers kick things off with a strong first step via the Work Hard Play Harder EP. With five saucy singles, this EP is almost too hot to handle. Trap with various flavors and sounds is what makes up most of the project, with tracks like the introductory “Lean” and “Man On Fire” bringing some much needed flair to the genre. Trap isn’t all we get though, as the duo shift the pace with the break-driven “Jump” that is hype AF. You can get Work Hard Play Harder all for free, which is highly advised.

[Trap] Dirt Monkey & Jantsen Launch New Soltri Project

Dirt Monkey and Jantsen have always been some of the most talented creators in Colorado. That says a lot given the state’s lengthy roster of high quality musicians. They’ve collaborated in the past before, but now are launching a brand new project called Soltri.

With Soltri, these two are aiming at fusing styles from all around the globe with their savvy bass sensibilities. Take for instance “Booty Bounce,” a culturally diverse tune that shakes up what you had in mind about world music – and even dance music for that matter. Soltri are doing what very few others are even attempting and they’re succeeding in a big way. “Booty Bounce” is just the beginning, as the guys have their heavier single “Wicked” that rounds out the EP. In the overall scope of the project, this is just the beginning as this EP is Pt. 1. Get your copy of it today on Beatport.

Dirt Monkey Feat. Harvey J – Super Sayain (Wooli Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Dirt Monkey Ft Harvey J
Super Sayain(Wooli Remix)

One of our favorite Colorado creators is Dirt Monkey. Recently he released his CHROMA album that featured a collaborative single called “Super Sayain” with Harvey J. Dirty Monkey didn’t stop there as he enlisted a fellow animal loving producer to flip his single into something new. That producer is Wooli, and his remix can be heard for the first time in the dojo with this Music Ninja Premiere.

In its original form, “Super Sayain” was a strong hybrid tune that straddled the fence between trap and dubstep, something Dirt Monkey does often. With Wooli’s take, he keeps some of the trap influences, but brings in a more future driven style to the mix. Airy synth-scapes weaved into the classic vocal chops and subtle wubs make this one a straightforward, yet massive remix. If there was anyone who wasn’t jiving 100% with the more heavy style of the original, then this remix will be perfect for you. It still has that big, encompassing attitude, but the tone of Wooli’s remix is much less in your face. Wooli did an amazing job with this tune, which you can download for free. Chances are, you’re looking forward to more Wooli just as we are!
