[Soul/R&B] Christopher Blake – Bad (feat. Armani White)

Christopher Blake
Bad (feat. Armani White)

Ain’t nothing wrong with a little bump-and-grind to start your Monday off. Dallas-based singer Christopher Blake teamed up with producer Caden Jester and Philly-based rapper Armani White on this sexy little tune called “Bad”. Blake’s soulful vocals and White’s crafty verse fit perfectly with the slow jam. The lustful guitar solo towards the end further adds to the the sexiness of the track, which resembles the sound of The Hills” by The Weeknd.

The continuous collaboration between Blake and Jester really shows the versatility of their production and the different territory of sounds they are exploring into. Be sure to check these guys out if you dig “Bad”, as all of these talented individuals are on our list of artists to watch in 2017.

[Deep House] SLVR – Oh My God (Original Mix)

SLVR
Oh My God (Original Mix)

With the weekend at our doorstep, you’re probably looking for something smooth and groovy to assist in your festivities. In comes SLVR with “Oh My God” released by Dirty Blends. This deep house treat is just what you need to boost your night, or even, your day if you like to party while the sun is up.

SLVR put together a minimalist gem that, although deep, brings a bit of some tech sensibilities to the mix. “Oh My God” is solid from the very get go, to the very last note. When putting together a track like this, sometimes things just get stale, however SLVR’s catchy composition doesn’t ever come close to that point. The Milan music maker did a number on this one, which put him on our radar for 2017. After listening through, he’s likely to be on yours as well house heads.

[Trap] Take/Five – The After Life EP

The homemade pizza loving UK producer Take/Five just independently put out his newest EP, The After Life. Complete with three singles, including a free download of the title track, this EP is a clean break from the usual sound we get from the trap arena.

The great thing about this EP is that not only does each song satisfy a different stylistic craving, but Take/Five kills it with each song. “After Life” blurs the lines between future and trap, something a lot of people try to do, but don’t succeed as well as we see here. “Hell” starts the descent into a more darkened sound whose slow grooves are infectious. “The End” ends the EP with a more industrial blend. We love The After Life and we’re confident you will too. Like what you here? Head over to the digital service of your choice to get a copy.

[Electronic] Mansionair – Easier (Electric Mantis Remix)

Mansionair
Easier (Electric Mantis Remix)

It’s been several months since we’ve heard any new material from Electric Mantis, but thankfully the wait is over. Since the explosion of “Flips And Flops, Drips And Drops” three years ago, he’s concocted a slew of innovative remixes, along with the massive Braincase EP, and now this fresh take on Mansionair‘s “Easier” provides the same amount of gusto and hard-hitting bass that he’s made all his own.

There’s a refined sense of sleekness throughout the tune compared to some of his previous work as it juggles the delicacy of the vocals with his signature style, and it truly feels as though Electric Mantis has found the perfect medium between power and poise on this remix. If you dig this one, absolutely check out his original tune “Daybreak” that was released on Majestic Casual a few months back. It’s always great to see a familiar face back on our SoundCloud feeds, and Electric Mantis continues to bring quality material to the table every single time.

Greyface – Delilah [TMN PREMIERE]

Greyface
Delilah

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to start something beautiful. For LA-based Greyface, that was certainly the case, finding their inspiration in a dimly lit rehearsal space before a Blonde Redhead show. Recording on their phones for fun, this seemingly innocent jam session turned into the project you’re about to dive into today.

Their journey didn’t start here, though, staying true to so many other musicians’ stories. Jutty Taylor (vocals, bass, guitar), Ryan Malina (producer, guitar, keys, backing vocals), and Julien Bellin (drums, percussion) had been playing with off an on for quite some time. After years of jamming together, working on separate projects, and honing their craft, Greyface was born.

Their debut album, Greyola, is set to come out on February 10th, but we’re lucky enough to be sharing a sneak peek at one of our favorite selections from the collection. “Delilah” is a delicate, somewhat dreary, and downright addictive jam that calls on associations of the glory days of this genre. You could easily find it nestled neatly into an Indie Rock playlist next to Neutral Milk Hotel, The War on Drugs, and The National. Yet, while it certainly grabs hold of those nostalgic feelings, it has plenty of modern appeal, bringing it nicely into 2017.

Make sure to keep tabs on this trio by following them on Facebook and Soundcloud. After listening to the rest of the album, we can assure you that you’ll want to.

[Electronic] DROELOE – In Time feat. Belle Doron

DROELOE
In Time (ft. Belle Doron)

Clean and crisp are the first words that come to mind when listening to DROELOE’S latest release, “In Time.” Not only does this describe the production, but vocals from Belle Doron deserve the same adjectives to be applied. Though the lyrics remain simple they guide you through an intrinsic pairing of sounds that leave the listener to experience everything from intense emotion, climactic synth laden lines, hip-hop beats and can’t be missed bass. A beyond impressive track for DROELOE leaving us excited for more.

When we were first working on the instrumental we had an idea of how the song was going to sound, but we weren’t sure about the specific feelings we were trying to convey. Then, Bella sent us her vocals and we were absolutely blown away by her emotion and lyrics. We instantly knew that the track was going to carry a sense of ‘reminiscing of the past’ and that’s how “In Time” was born.

Even better, the track is available to stream or download, for free, here.
